How to Set a Gift Goal on TikTok LIVE (One That Actually Fills)

A goal bar sitting at 0% for two hours isn't motivating anyone. It's just sad.

To set a gift goal on TikTok LIVE you have two options: TikTok's built-in LIVE goal in the app and LIVE Studio, or a custom goal you add by URL in LIVE Studio or OBS. Both take five minutes. Getting it to fill is the hard part, so we cover that too.

How do I set a gift goal with TikTok's LIVE goal?

It's the stock option. In the app or LIVE Studio you create a LIVE goal: a description, one or more gifts and a target. LIVE Studio also has a goal source with a few preset looks. It's all in the LIVE Studio help center.

Does it match your overlay? Usually not. But if a plain bar is all you want and you always stream from LIVE Studio, it does the job.

How do I add a custom gift goal? Step by step

Want the goal to match the rest of your scene, or stream with OBS? Use a goal widget by URL. This is how I do it with TikRift:

  1. Open TikRift, go to Goals and pick League: it adds up the coins from every gift in the stream.
  2. Set the target. Pick your level from the dropdown and the app suggests a number, or type your own.
  3. Click "Copy URL" (example only: https://overlay.tikrift.com/t/d7Kq2mVx9LpR4sNw). That URL is yours, don't share it.
  4. In TikTok LIVE Studio: add a new source, choose the link option (labels vary by version) and paste the URL. In OBS: browser source with the URL (500 × 400 to start).
  5. Put it near the top and keep TikRift open while you're live.

League has three designs: Dome, League emblem and League ladder. By default the goal resets every new LIVE, you can set the progress by hand, and repeat-on-complete starts a new round on its own.

What kind of gift goal actually works?

The bar is the easy part. What fills a goal is what you promise and how you talk about it.

  • A sentence, not a number. "If we hit it, we play a round with chat" makes sense. "Goal: 5,000" says nothing.
  • A bit above a normal stream. Not double. An impossible goal is a sign saying "nothing happens here".
  • Just one. Nobody reads three bars. Not even you.
  • Say it out loud. Every time it moves, call it out and thank people by name. The bar can't talk. You can.
  • Deliver on the same stream. "Next time" kills the next goal before it starts.

Where should the goal go on screen?

  • Near the top, under your profile. Lower down, comments and TikTok's buttons cover it.
  • Away from your face and your gameplay.
  • Readable on a phone. If you squint at the preview, it's too small.

The areas TikTok covers are in our TikTok LIVE overlay size guide.

Can I set a goal for one specific gift?

In TikRift, only with Heart Me, which counts that fan club gift alone. League adds up coins from all gifts. If you need exactly "10 roses", TikTok's LIVE goal does that. TikRift's goal and the LIVE goal are separate and don't sync.

What goes well next to it?

A top gifters leaderboard so whoever pushes the bar gets their name up, gift alerts so every gift shows, and in a subathon a timer. Putting several together? Build them in Dynamic LIVE and add the whole scene with one URL (up to 12 visible elements).

Frequently asked questions

How do I set a gift goal on TikTok?

With the LIVE goal in the app or LIVE Studio, or with TikRift's League goal: copy its URL and add it in LIVE Studio as a link source or in OBS as a browser source.

Does the TikRift goal work in TikTok LIVE Studio?

Yes, as a link source. In OBS, as a browser source.

What number should I pick?

A bit above what you get on a normal stream. Hitting a small goal and setting another beats a huge one left half-full.

Can I do a like goal or follower goal instead?

Yes: Tap tap (likes) and Followers. See the TikTok LIVE like counter guide.
