# TikTok LIVE Gift Alerts: Setup Guide for LIVE Studio and OBS

By [Matías González (MattsinLife)](https://tikrift.com/en/author/matias-gonzalez/) · Live streaming content creator · Updated Oct 26, 2026

Someone drops a Rose and nothing happens on screen. That viewer just gets ignored. An alert (animation, sound or text) makes the gift actually show up on stream. Here's how to set alerts up in **TikTok LIVE Studio** and **OBS**, plus fixes for the stuff that usually breaks.

## How TikTok LIVE alerts work

Almost every alert tool follows the same pattern:

1. **Event:** a gift, follow, share, subscription, like or comment.
2. **Action:** an animation, sound or text.
3. **Overlay:** a URL you add as a browser source in your streaming software, which shows the actions on top of your video.

## Before you start

- An account with LIVE access.
- TikTok LIVE Studio or OBS installed on your PC.
- **TikRift**, a desktop app you install on Windows 10 or later (64-bit). If a Windows component is missing, the installer adds it automatically.

## Step by step in TikTok LIVE Studio

1. Open TikRift and copy the **widget URL** you want to show.
2. In LIVE Studio, add a **Link** source (the exact name can vary by version) and paste the URL.
3. Fit it to your canvas. For vertical streams, use 1080 × 1920.
4. Before going live, check how each widget looks in TikRift's preview, which uses sample data. Test events from the control panel only show inside the app; they don't reach the URL you use in LIVE Studio or OBS.
5. Go live and check that the overlay connects.

## Step by step in OBS

1. Copy the widget URL in TikRift.
2. In OBS, add a browser source (**Sources → + → Browser**), paste the URL and set the canvas width and height.
3. Turn on **"Control audio via OBS"** if you want the alert sound in your stream.
4. Streaming to TikTok from OBS needs LIVE access plus the server URL and stream key shown in your TikTok LIVE settings; every new LIVE uses a new key. Source: [TikTok help](https://inapp.tiktokv.com/falcon/webcast_mt/page/obs_intro/index.html).

## TikRift widgets

There are widgets for gift alerts, rankings, goals and LIVE events. Each one is added through its own URL in your streaming software.

## Setting up gift alerts (general tips)

- **By gift:** one sound for a Rose, another for a big gift.
- **By coin value:** rules by minimum coins (say, 1 to 99, 100 to 999 and 1,000+), with more impact for bigger gifts.
- **Combos:** decide whether 30 Roses in a row trigger 30 alerts or just one.

## Keep alerts from getting annoying

- Sounds of 1 to 3 seconds with normalized volume.
- A per-user cooldown plus a global one.
- Queue alerts instead of overlapping them.

## TikTok LIVE Studio alerts not working or no sound

This one comes up constantly ("tiktok live studio alerts not working", "tiktok live studio alert sounds not working"). Here's what public guides suggest:

- **The alert doesn't show:** refresh the source cache (in OBS, "Refresh cache of current page") and turn off "Shutdown source when not visible". Source: [Streamtivity](https://streamtivity.com/guides/tikfinity-alerts-not-showing).
- **It shows but there's no sound in LIVE Studio:** hide and show the Link source again so the audio reloads. Source: [TikFinity's LIVE Studio fix](https://tikfinity.zerody.one/studiofix).
- **Alerts reset or show an internal error:** some creators reported this in LIVE Studio in May 2026; re-add the source and test before going live. Source: [Reddit r/streaming](https://www.reddit.com/r/streaming/comments/1takymd/).
- **Size:** in LIVE Studio, add a link/web-type source and paste the URL; for vertical streams use 1080 × 1920. Source: [TokAlerts](https://tokalerts.com/guides/tiktok-live-studio-overlay-setup).

## Common problems

- **Symptom:** The alert doesn't show. **Likely cause:** The overlay isn't connected, or you're not live. **Fix:** Refresh the source and check the connection
- **Symptom:** You see it but can't hear it. **Likely cause:** The source audio is muted. **Fix:** Unmute the source or enable "Control audio via OBS"
- **Symptom:** Sound plays twice. **Likely cause:** The overlay is also open in a browser tab. **Fix:** Close the duplicate tab
- **Symptom:** It's delayed. **Likely cause:** Connection or alert queue. **Fix:** Shorten your alert durations

## FAQ

### Can I add gift alerts in TikTok LIVE Studio?

Yes. TikTok LIVE Studio lets you add a Link (web) source with an overlay URL. The alert tool detects gifts, follows and comments in your LIVE and shows them on top of your video. Test it before you go live: check the canvas size and make sure the source audio is on so the sound plays.

### Why can I see my alert but not hear it?

Usually the source audio is off. In OBS, open the browser source properties and enable "Control audio via OBS", then check the mixer to make sure the source isn't muted. In LIVE Studio, check the Link source volume. Check these settings before going live so you catch it early.

### How do I get started with TikRift?

Install TikRift on Windows 10 or later (64-bit). Then copy each widget's URL and add it to your streaming software, such as TikTok LIVE Studio or OBS. You need an internet connection.

### Are alerts against TikTok's rules?

Showing animations or sounds on your own stream is common practice. Even so, alert content must follow TikTok's Community Guidelines, just like everything else in your LIVE. Pay special attention to alert text and to copyrighted sounds. If in doubt, check the current official guidelines before you stream.
